Number 2

Last week, was a big week here at the Mikkelson abode. Brody finally decided that pooping in the potty was the cool thing to do! Let me tell ya, we have been praying for this. And I mean that literally. God wanted him to poop too- He gets it. I promised him that we would go miniature golfing if he pooped and what do you know- he did. Before I get to the gofing pictures, I have to show you these pictures from the zoo. We went last week when it was a littel overcast, but still so, so hot. We went with my sister and nephew for a quick outing. What I did not expect, was to see the elephant family that we have at our zoo- swimming. It was the coolest thing! We must have watched them for at least 20 minutes. The daddy elephant was playing, pushing the kids under water, spraying them with his trunk, and sneaking up on them from behind. The mommy elephant was the only one not in on the action. I like to think that she was taking a small, meditation break while the daddy kept the kids busy- or maybe she needed to pee in private. Anyway, it was so cool. So humor and love these pictures too!

This is the little guy....I love it, he's like "I'm going in, who's gonna get me?"
Here are two on the kids, dog piling the dad!
Spraying! So fun! Danielle and I really wanted to get sprayed- just so we could say. "We've been sprayed by an elephant". Don't judge- you'd want to too. Admit it:)

"Marco" "Polo" Marco" "Polo"....Fish out of water?
"Hehehehehehe....he can't hear me!"

Seriously, the coolest thing ever!

Posing in front of some big ol fish

This one is hilarious.... they both look ridiculous!

Okay, so the zoo was fun. The next day was golfing! It was so flippin windy, but it made the temperature cool way down which was lovely! Brody could hardly contain himself. He was freaking out the enitre way there- loved it! Brody had decided before we even left that he wanted to do the 'castle course', which is different from the first course we did. Needless to say, it does not take too long to golf with the kids. They hit the ball, run down the green after it, and shove it in. We were just trying to keep up! I love how excited they get. It's so fun to watch.

When did they get this big?

Here is the famous castle. They were really excited for this hole!

Loving life at this point!
I don't even know what she is doing here
Brody may be a bit ADD....
These are the freaky ducks. Well, they have never actually done anyting to me yet, but I know they are plotting an attack. You can just tell.

And there's my life. The man of my dreams that will drop everything to go golfing and celebrate poop. That, my friends, makes him a keeper.

Did you bribe your kids to poop on the potty or am I the only stellar parent;)?

Summertime....

Summer in Tucson.... sucks. I really don't like the extreme heat and I REALLY don't like that the kids can't play outside for 5 minutes without turning bright red from the heat. The kids LOVE to be outside. Naturally, we have been swimming, playing in sprinklers and playing in the splash pad at the zoo to keep cool. ATTENTION: from here until the end of this post there will be boatloads of pictures that may look similar, but I promise they are not!!

He loves the sprinklers- clearly!

He also loves to try and smash them!

Delaney showing us her mega muscles

And you know how it's impossible to lick your elbow? Not for Miss Delaney. Skills people. Mad skills.

A sweet moment.

Since Eric started his own residential contracting company, he has some freedom to hang out with us, sometimes, during the week! Since we have a membership to the zoo, we decided to brave the heat and go on a family outing that was FREE (my fav kind)!

Such a stud muffin
Checking out the "Beary big black cat"
I love how freaked out Brody looks
Delaney touching a snake. Whatever Delaney does.....
Brody does:)

They were able to pet the cutest little armadillos!!
Then we chilled on Nana's bench

No zoo trip is complete without Dippin Dots

It was so hot we decided it was time to head into the "splash pad" thing.
Brody thought it was hilarious!
Delaney liked spraying all the kids- Brody included
But then he got her back:)

Good buddies:)

That's what I love about Sundays...

Sundays are pretty much my favorite day of the week. I love going to church as a family. Delaney and Brody can hardly wait to get in the door of their class. Delaney walks in and says, "Hello everybody! It's me! Delaney Grace Mikkelson! What are you guys doing?" Usually one of the wonderful volunteers at Pantano Christian Church, has some play-doh all prepared for little miss social. Last week I reminded her that I needed to put her name tag on her and she said, "No Mommy, that's okay, just let the church lady do it. You just go to the weddin' church (that's what she calls the big church)". She has no separation issues. Brody is just as eager to get in his class. Eric take him and says that he stands at the door and bangs on it til he gets in!
After church, I get Delaney, Eric gets Brody and we meet in the courtyard where we usually see Nana and Granddaddy. We either eat breakfast there or we go home and have a big breakfast there....

After church every week, the kids walk up the stairs with Nana and Granddaddy and wave at us from the top floor, then they come down on the elevator.... what can I say?? Delaney is a little OCD.

Last Sunday we went to my parent's house to eat breakfast.

My big boy.

Granddaddy and the kids playing ball

They love riding around in the wagon.

After breakfast, we went home, the kids took a nap and then we went looking for flowers to plant!

Today, we didn't go to church because Brody has an awful cough (which we think is allergies) and we didn't want to freak out the church staff, so we skipped it. Instead, we went to the zoo! This was the first time we didn't bring the stroller or the wagon. We let the kids just walk and they were awesome!

Brody at the entrance... yes I am aware he only has one shoe on. Thank goodness we found it right away. Damn crocs.

Delaney chillin'

Brody was so excited to see everything!

Brody and Eric checking out the elephants.

Sigh.....

They look so old!

Eric and Delaney sharing some Dippin Dots.

Can you tell she thinks he hung the moon:)

There they are. My 3 year old and my almost 2 year old, just walking through the zoo.

We got home today and the kids went right to sleep and now we are heading over to my parents to visit with MY grandparents and have dinner.
I love Sundays.
