How you like them apples?

I am always trying to find new things to do with the whole family on a tight budget. This past weekend, Eric and I decided that we would drive about an hour (insert direction here) to a local farm called Apple Annies. This was the first time we have been to the orchard part of the farm and it was awesome! We were out the door by 8:00 (mush to Daylen's dismay) with the intention of the sweet pancake breakfast that they offer. We pulled up at 9:08 and made our way to the pancake house. Oh. My. Goodness. The smell of pancakes and warm, spiced apples literally took your breath away as soon as you opened the door. I was quickly snapped back into reality when I saw Brody heading to griddle and decided that day dreaming with tow toddlers, a hot griddle and hot crock pots, probably not the best idea. With an all you can eat pancake breakfast in hand, we found a table in the middle of the trees- so quiet and quaint.

On a mission...

Mission accomplished.

YUMMY.

My boys:)

Brody and Delaney soon were bored- see an all you an eat with Daylen and Eric, could take awhile, so they wandered around a bit.

After our bellies were full, we got our supplies for apple picking. One bucket, one wagon and one apple picker and we were off!

Such a good big brother.

Picking the apples was actually fun! Eric showed the kids the right way to do it and after coaching Brody on how to PLACE the apples in the bucket instead of throwing them, they did a great job! Daylen was on the constant look out for disgusting, slimy apples that Brody seemed to be drawn to that were on the ground  and Delaney just wanted a ride on the tractor.

Placing the apples....

Looking for the next spot:)
Brody and I decided to hang back, but not Delaney, she was all over it- picking pears with the boys.

She RAN back to me to tell that she did it!!

Turns out Brody shoes (that he had never worn before) were too small and killing him. As we were walking to the tractor, he started crying and asking me to carry him. Seriously, saddest thing ever. Luckily, I brought his sandals so we made a quick switch and he was in a much better mood!

Waiting for the tractor!
Here it comes!
Delaney's turn with the apple picker!
This is the apple she picked!
Brody's turn!
I said, "Brody show me your apple." And this is what he did.
On our way back- Brody wanted to hold Daylen's hand. So cute.

After the apple and pear picking was over, we went back to the entrance for some homemade ice cream and water because holy moly was it hot! One of the best things- there are numerous wood cut outs for lots of embarrassing photo ops. Well, embarrassing for Daylen- the littles, loved it!

Saying "cheese" to each other
Brody wasn't quite tall enough

Ice cream time!

Now for the embarrassing one for Daylen:) Love this one!!

What a fun family day we had and no family outing would be complete without one child falling asleep:
