18 Holes of mini fun!

Miniature golfing. Not my strongest sport. Not my favorite past time. However, I have learned to branch out and do things in the name of fun for my family. Eric and I were in the mood to get out of the house and do something different. We decided to try miniature golfing. I know what you are thinking- Brody-golf club- golf ball- smelly water with full potential to fall in- I know, I was thinking the same thing. I had such a de-ja-vu thing goin on when we pulled up. I used to go to Golf N Stuff all the time when I was a kid. It was such a fun place to 'hang out'. So there I was, with my husband and KIDS. Really weird. We made our way through the arcade and through the back doors where the bumper boats were lodging full fledged attacks on each other and I can still remember smacking into all my friends when I was in Jr. High. Ahhh, such memories.

We got all our necessary gear and chose which course to take (much to Delaney's dismay, we chose the one that DID NOT go to the special castle. Oops). It became very apparent, very quickly, that the kids have never really held a 'golf ball hitter' as Brody so lovingly refers to a golf club. I realize that there is good reason why we haven't let him, but this activity kinda forced the situation upon us. So Eric took on the role of teacher and I sat back and watched how different the kid's attitudes toward golfing were. Delaney wanted no help what so ever and Brody wanted help, but only on his terms.
I'm pretty sure she doesn't look 4 years old.

Ha, just excited to not have a ball taken away
The kids and their "golf ball hitters". Look at Brody, he just looks like trouble doesn't he?

Brody would hit the ball (after a few attempts) a yell, "oh oh oh" and literally run down the green until it stopped. Usually he would haphazardly hit the ball a few times until it accidentally fell into the hole or he would just get tired of watching it roll so he would pick it up, set it down right on the edge of the hole and let it fall in. A Tiger Woods, he is not. We're hoping he really like football.

Delaney, on the other hand, would fight Eric off, in spite of holding her "hitter" the wrong way and would let it rip. Once she got the hang of the proper holding procedure, she was really good. She would forget to wait until the ball stopped every once in a while, but all in all, chicks got skills.

When we got to the 18th hole, and the ball does not get returned, there were some tears. We went into the arcade to play a few games to ease the pain- probably not the best lesson, but oh well. The kids LOVE skee (skeet? Ski?) ball. Delaney had some serious sound affects going and would occasionally throw the ball across the lanes and scare the bejezus out of us all. They quickly realized that they could earn tickets and in return get something. We went through $20 rather quickly. After some serious math- they ended up with some army guys, some suckers, a ball and some tootsie rolls for Eric.

Yes, there were tears again when we made our way through the 'secret path' to get to the car, which I know just means they had a ball. It was so cool being with my family at a place I used to go to as a kid. I love our little outings.

Wiener Wednesday!

I pride myself on being cheap frugal. I love finding deals and hate spending money... just ask Eric:) Having a family of six, it is not always easy to do things fun and not break the bank. Couple weeks ago, I was on FB (shocker) and came across a deal for FREE tickets (up to 4) to go watch the new Tucson Padres AAA baseball team play! It was great! You see it was "Wiener Wednesday" so we all had wieners (hee hee hee)- 15 to be exact- and sodas and it was $26! Not bad for a family of six for dinner and a ball game! PLUS, the kids LOVED it! I was having flashbacks to when I almost got smacked with a ball in Phoenix so naturally I was plotting ever angle the balls could from and the plan to save the lives of my children, but I did have fun too.

There's the fam. Notice the steep hill and the UNPROTECTED airspace?

Brody man checking it out

Kaylie taking some very interesting pictures of the players (wink, wink)

Aww....

Such a good big sister

Nothing but the best for MY family! That there is 15 wieners.

Dinner time!

I think I will edit this one and make it fun! I love it!

This is what Brody did the whole time! He would throw a foil ball (like I said, nothing but the best!) down the hill, run to go get it, run back up, stall out about half way and throw again. He had a ball!

I love when things are fun, family oriented and cheap!

Please tell me where the pause button is...

I am amazed at how fast time is going. I am amazed at how big my 'babies' are getting. We have been very busy here at the Mikkelson house. The only thing that is left to unpack and organize is the stupid garage.
As the kids get older, I find myself able to do more around the house, which I love. I do, however, have to 'pause' my organizing/cleaning rampages that I get on to remind myself that the kids are only this age once and  I don't want them to miss out on having fun because their mother is a neurotic neat freak (that's right, I'm a coming back:). This past week we have played, had picnics, went swimming in the "cuzzi", and had some fun family time.

Brody and Delaney getting ready to get in the 'warm pool thing' or the 'cuzzi'

Now they are really ready.

Brody was a little hesitant at first, but quickly got over and proceeded to push all the buttons and turn all the jets on and off.

Delaney can touch the bottom so she just goes all over it. We get in the jacuzzi pretty much every night after dinner. It is so fun!

The kids, having a picnic on the balcony.

Chowing a PB & J

We went to the spring carnival at the school I used to teach at! This was the first time the kids went on a ride without one of us. I was all teary watching them go on the ghetto choo-choo. (Yes, Delaney still plugs her ears if she is nervous about something.)

In an attempt to organize and have less crap cluttering up our lives, we decided to get rid of two small kid tables and a sand box and instead get a picnic table/sandbox combined! The kids didn't know we got it so it was a fun surprise.

She was so happy!

Checking it out!
Helping Daddy put the bolts in:)

Having a snack at their new table with an adorable umbrella.

We have seriously been so busy- I actually started this post like 2 weeks ago!
We have so much going on and I love it!
